Project Description
Private Estate
WELLINGTON, FLORIDA
Project Details
This 250-acre equestrian estate was inspired by the aesthetics of Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. who designed the grounds of the owner’s East Aurora, NY residence in 1927. Situated in the heart of Wellington, Florida, amid a community of Palm Beach County’s most pristine horse country estates, the main residence is embraced by a pastoral countryside composed of passive greens, large sweeping masses of understory plantings, and native Florida woodlands. The estate’s residential walking paths provide a shady refuge with over three miles of meandering foot paths and trails in keeping with Olmsted Jr.’s signature ideals for arcadian landscapes. Conceived as a landscape of winter interest, the gardens were created using a palette of evergreen, early spring and winter blooming vegetation that is a haven for wildlife.
