Project Description

Asian Garden

WELLINGTON, FLORIDA
Project Details

Formal and elegant, this Asian-inspired garden provides an intimate retreat to its owners and garden guests. Taking queues from ancient Japanese and Chinese traditions, the garden is surrounded by a low-lying stone wall and expansive bodies of water. Nestled underneath the mature canopy of large canopy trees, the garden is organized along a main axis that directs the eye over a central koi pond and beneath the arching eaves of an emerald green pagoda. A lakeside folly anchors the garden in the distance.

Each stone artifact in this garden was designed and custom carved using granite originating from as far away as China and imported stone from the Lake Placid region of upstate New York. O’Leary Richards Design hand-selected blocks of quarried stone to design archetypical garden artifacts including bonsai pedestals, a grouping of standing boulders and a traditional hand-carved Kotoji lantern.
